Energy 101 Overview

Twenty years ago, when I first began my journey into the field of “energy work”, it took a lot of effort to find information and people with real practical experience in this field. Now the information and opportunities are more mainstream. People across the globe are finding their way to healing communities and plugging into their brilliance with energy healings therapies.

Several times I’ve had a client come to me after years of therapy, or after enduring multiple tests and diagnosis that give either an “I don’t know” answer or “there is no cure”. They come in search of solutions that the Western medical model cannot offer. When a person’s livelihood, longevity, and quality of life are affected by their health, even a very skeptical person can shift to allow for more ‘out-of-the-box’ thinking and approaches. Unfortunately, there are stories of people who have been duped and even harmed when in their desperation to find relief they trust in unethical, ineffective, and unwise “treatments” and practitioners that yield little or no results and sometimes leave them worse off.

The bottom line—there are five presuppositions that effectively put energy therapies to good use.

  1. An individual’s will and belief trump the skills and desires of the practitioner. In other words, if you don’t believe in the healing therapy it’s going to have a limited scope of effectiveness or even not work for you at all. Or if you think you believe and still harbor doubt or worry consciously or unconsciously it will sabotage the therapy and yield little to no desired results. A practitioner must honor and take into account the client’s mindset, will, and intention when determining the services, timing, and intensity of therapy.
  2. Trust your intuition. Without apology, if a practitioner, teacher, or modality doesn’t feel “right” to you, DO NOT engage! Even if cousin so-and-so, or your neighbor down the street, or another professional recommended them and saw great results, you HAVE TO feel good about your own path.
  3. Being very clear about intention—what do you want from a healing session, how strongly do you feel about the practice or the practitioner, what payoffs or value is there in maintaining the condition or dis-ease—plays a vital role in any healing modality.
As a client there is work that YOU MUST do to realize the benefits of what the practitioner/teacher has to offer. This goes right along with the first presupposition that the individual’s will trumps the practitioner. Each client/participant will receive back in direct proportion to the investment of time, thought, energy, money, and work that they put in. No “if’s, and’s, or but’s” about it!
  4. Lastly, a holistic approach works best for anyone/everyone. We are complex beings with layers of systems that all work together interdependently on all levels of our being—physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. An imbalance in one of those systems or layers affects all others. A shift in one influences all. AND when you approach a healing (whether it be a thought, condition, or situation that you want to change) from several directions, multiple layers, or varied modalities the results are much more noticeable and long-lasting.

At Academy of Energy Healers we provide clearing/healing services that support a client in finding their empowered state and actively, effectively engaging in creating balance and wholeness on all levels of their being.
